  1. First off, watch out where you download from. Stick to the sites you see recommended by multiple people on YA or other boards, like dafont.com.

When it asks you to open or save, find your way in the dialog box to save it to your desktop.

It will most likely be a zip file. Double click it or right click on it and look for the word expand or extract. It may extract automatically or it may ask a couple more things. Extract it right back to the desktop.

Then open the folder and look for the font files (there may be some text docs or explorer links) - the ones with the .ttf extension. Either cut or copy the font files. In the Windows start menu go to Control Panels and then Fonts. Once that window is open, paste the fonts in. You will see a "thermometer" showing that the fonts are being installed.

If you have any programs open, you will have to quit and restart them to see the newly installed fonts, but after that they should show up in your fonts list.

    Good luck.

  2. Depends on what site you're working on. I do graphic design, and it's really obnoxious when I google "free fonts" and all the font sites that pop up definitely aren't free. Sometimes the download button starts the download automatically, or it takes you to a page where it should say "if your download doesn't start automatically, click here."

    Hope that helps!
