How do I draw like on Paint on Microsoft word?

I was fooling around with a picture I had copied from MS Paint onto MS Word when I double clicked it. All of a sudden I could draw on this picture even though it was on Word. Hard to explain--all the tools from Paint were inserted onto a word document. Does anyone know how to do this intentionally--I want to do it again.

The picture needs to be copied from paint and pasted into the document.
