I need to put a gate over my driveway-and I'll need to put at least 4-5 posts in it to hold the chain link fence & gate. How do I do that?

  1. Hammer drill with a core bit. The hole will only be about 2-3 inches wide, not sure how you will remove the soil

  2. You need a concrete hole saw. They can be had at any home improvement store and they attach to a drill. It will be slow going so prepare for that. Let the drill do the work, if you push to hard, you'll ruin the hole saw.

  3. you might be better off to hire this out.  have a core driller give you a price on coring 6 inch holes in the concrete.  you can then dig post holes, set the post and concrete it in.

  4. have a shop to weld attachment plate on the post, much cheaper and faster then other tools required to drill post size holes. Then use 5/16ths or 3/8inch anchors and bolts. Minimum of 4 per post.

  5. Home depot rents a core drill I think it's about 45.00 a day.Get a bit about 2 in. bigger than your pipe. Then you can put cement back in hole after the pipe is set.

  6. a big drill and a core bit...dont use a hammer drill with a core bit...

  7. i am having trouble drilling into hard soil.. the drill just goes in and stops going in, its like rock.. i hope you dont have this problem.

  8. 5lb hammer and star drill.Vibrateing/hammer drill/Jack hammer. 20lb sledge hammer(messy).Depends on budget and energy
