How do I drill into metal studs?

I am installing a baby gate and need to drill into a metal stud to attach it.

How do I drill a hole into the metal stud?

A drill bit that is designated for steel or wood should do.

The size depends on the size of s***w or bolt you are using, the directions for the gate may specify that.

Use a "Tek" s***w of the correct length and size. They are designed to make there own hole in metal without a drill bit. You will need a drill motor and a s***w bit to fit the screws.  Many times a package of 100 will contain a bit for them.  Most hardware stores carry them in various sizes.

go to your local hardware store and get some self drilling screws (not expensive)..the clerk will glad to help you find what you  need and the proper bit to s***w them in with.....

Sometimes you don't have to drill a hole, but if you want to, use a small drill bit for metal and just drill a pilot hole(meaning much smaller than the diameter of the s***w being used), and then s***w in the s***w.
