How do I drive a used car I bought in VA back into CT legally?

I am in Virigina and I just found a car I want to buy. It is used and not froma dealer. I want to frive it back into Conencticut (Where I live). How do I do this legally? Any help would be great.

CT DMV told me to come into their office and get a temp. registrtion...but I am in Virginia!

Any helk?

  1. If you have the title to the car, it shouldn't matter


  2. You need to get it registered in VA and the have it re-registered in CT when you get here.

    Or, you could just bring your old CT license plate and stick it on the car until you get back to CT.  Then have the registration transferred legally to the new car when you get here.  Just be careful not to get a ticket or get pulled over for anything because it's not the most legal way to do it.............

  3. What you need to do is to get the temporary and drive on that back to CT. Once you get there you then would register your car.

    You also have the choice to register it on-line to your CT address which might be easier. You will have to get the car smogged in any event before you can register it.
