How do I dry herbs in extreme heat and humidity?

I have herbs that are ready... I have them hanging upside down by strings, but the heat is 96 and the humidity is near 80%... any suggestions for drying them out properly so they wont rot... Im afraid this humidity will cause incorrect drying or rotting.

(Can I use a dehumidifier on high in a closet ? Air conditioner on Low all day long ??)

  1. I have same humidity, but they will dry if in the sun. I know because I live in Thailand. We dry dill., peppers, parsley, I even make beef jerky in the sun. Try it you will like it.Direct sun is the key!!

  2. In your microwave.  Place them between 2 layers of paper towel and go for 10 seconds. Check.  Go for 10 seconds until dry enough.

  3. I dry mine on the lowest setting in the oven for a few hours.  Just check on them.

  4. yes dehumidifier in closet set to 50% (or as low as it will go) will work great. Ovens dry a bit too quickly and unevenly. You want it to dry thoroughly and somewhat slowly.
