It's out of a can.

And it just says crab meat.

Do I cook it?

Or what, just dip it in melted butter.

I'm really craving it right now D:

  1. Most canned crab meat is cooked and safe to eat, just like canned tuna.  Make sure it's really tasty crab if you're eating it with butter, otherwise it'll just have to go into a salad :-)

  2. When I take the crab meat out of the can I rinse it off.  Some crab is wrapped in paper, so I take it out of the paper, put it in the colander and run warm water over it.  This warms it up a bit, but if you want it hot then you could put it in the microwave, covered in a bowl, and heat it to your desired temp.  You do not HAVE to cook it, and dipping it in butter sounds really good!

  3. Canned crab is usually flaked, not meaty chunks like fresh from the shell.  Best for crab cakes or salads.  Be sure to drain well. There's a paper in there - be sure to remove that!
