Question:

How do I eliminate baby fly infestation?

Okay I have swarms of mini baby gnat flies in the house. How do I eliminate these guys? They aren't so bad that you'd need an exterminator but they're everywhere. I've sealed and fridged all food and eliminated any open garbage so there's really nothing for them to "feed on".

Some people suggested leaving out liquid soap and then they fly into the soap and get stuck. Tried that. Totally did notwork at all.

Would fly sticky-paper work? If so, where do you buy that? A grocery store?

And what do I do about larvae-eggs to prevent a reoccurrence of this pesky quagmire?

I sincerely appreciate any techniques one might have in dealing with this insect dilemma.

Thanks.

  1. check the house plants with a flashlight, especially the ones that are being or have to be kept wet, you will see the gnats crawling on the soil of any affected plants. Fungus gnats larvae live and feed on algae / fungi in wet conditions.  Re potting the plant in clean soil and monitor the watering will stop them... water the plant with an insecticide labeled for such use, get all of the soil wet.....apply a Bt product to the soil that will only effect the gnat larvae.

  2. I'm gonna tell you exactly how to get rid of these b******s.  I'm a serious professional here because i just got rid of them a week ago.  First, a quick story on my end.  Sometimes I've left dishes in the sink and trash in the house for some period of time.  Obviously, they don't just vanish when you clean the kitchen and take the trash out.  You naturally have to get rid of them.  Here's how...

Step 1:  You can use either wine or pineapple chunks.  Pour a small amount of wine or pineapple chunks(about an inch high) in a disposable cup, or a glass you think you won't use anymore.

Step 2:  Wherever you see the most knats in one area, place that cup wherever that area is.  Take a piece of reynolds plastic wrap and place it tightly over the cup.

Step 3:  Take a nice sharp tac and poke several holes throughout the center of the plastic, not around the edges.  Make sure the holes are big enough for the knats to go in, but not too big so that they can escape easily once they are inside.

They will climb in and sometimes even go all the way down where the sweet stuff is, and never come out.  My roommate and I must have caught over 50 of them just overnight.

    Try this...IT WORKS!

    Good luck!
