How do I enable Emerald in Ubuntu 8.04?

  1. Try opening a Terminal and submit the following command :

    sudo apt-get install emerald

    LUg.

    Sorry I misread the question 'X' is quite correct.

  2. If you already have it installed, you will have to enable the "extra effects" from System>Preferences>Appearance

    Then go to compiz fusion settings manager > Windows Decoration. There will be a Command field. In that, type the

    command "emerald --replace" without quotes.

    Now press Alt + F2 and run emerald --replace
