How do I encourage my 12yr old son to box?

I have been watching this site with my son,who is a big Liverpool football fan,but he likes boxing better.If I took him to a boxing club by myself,would I encounter anyone like Mick Clarcky(my son knows him from the football section)as he is only 12 and some of his questions and answers frighten,he's a scary guy and he's an Everton supporter as well.How would I convince him the people in the boxing club wont hurt him as he's convinced they're all like this Mick Clarcky???

If I were you Cindy id go about it the way Shamen suggested,and also tell him not to go on the football section or boxing,as there are some really strange people like ACEMAN,BLOGBABBA1/2/3,JAMES and a few others,their enough to scare any young kid away those freaks.If you tale him with another male and let him blend in he should then be taken care of by the coach and after that a lot of effort and dedication.

Just ask some of the people there to treat him nicely since he's new and they should understand.

look around at different boxing gyms and after you have found one which you think will be a good fit then have your son speak to the trainer and let him ask him the questions he has on his mind
