My son will start kindergarten in the fall of 2008 and I have no idea how to enroll him. I know which school he has to go to but not how to enroll or when. What should I do and how do I go about it?

  1. Best thing to do- call the school in the spring of 08 and ask when the registration dates are and what to bring.

  2. Each district has their own guidelines for enrollment. Call the school dsitrict and ask them. OR you could wait until the spring of 08 and wait for the district to do a kindergarten round up, where the community is asked to come in and register their child for public school. The main thing they look for is a current physical. You also should have school choice, get on the list and see if there is room for your child to get in.

    You have a year, just wait until the spring and watch the local paper for the specific registration dates and then go to the designated place and enroll him.

  3. We have our kindergarten registration in May for the fall.  My son's school had theirs in February.  Just call the school.  They'll let you know.

  4. hi there! i'm a preschool teacher. Usually, you may drop by the school anytime during the schoolday (or call for an appointment first, just to be sure) to talk with the school directress. You may ask her all your questions. You will be given forms that you will have to fill up- student information, health record, student interests - it's different for every school. Some preschools may also request for a casual interview/talk with you, your husband, and your child. Good luck dearie! =)

  5. Since he will be going to kindergarten next year (2008-09 school year), you have plenty of time.

    Next April, call the school district office or the school and ask them when kindergarten registration begins.  At that time they will tell you what you will need to bring to registration, usually:

    A certified copy of the child's birth certificate (not the one the hospital gave you--the one with the state's certification stamp on it--the school can tell you how to get a copy of this, usually costs about $5.00);

    Up to date shot record and physical (must be no more than one year old);

    Proof of residence (this can be a electric or any other utility bill with your name and address on it no more than a month or two old, or a declaration of domicile that you fill out usually at a notary's office).

    If the school requires anything else, they will let you know when you call.

    IF you are unsure when to register him, call the school district to find out when they will open registration; most do not accept registrations a year ahead of time.

  6. The school I work at does KDG. registration for the following year in Feb. You will be asked to bring a courthouse BC at this time, as well as a shot record. At that time we set up a time for a screening where one of the kdg. teachers will meet with your child and ask them to perform some simple tasks to test their readiness and the speech teacher will check their speech. Before starting school your student will also need a dental exam in many states.

  7. um reading ur citys paper.......they usually have good info abut tht kinda stuff ans mayb google it and ask around..... u nevr kno wen u mit run into a teacher.....!!!

  8. call the school around 2 -3 weeks before sept. 1, they will tell you which days kindergarteners are to enroll, they usually always post dates too on the bulletin boards outside but it isn't always the right date for the kindy's. Once you go in for enrolling you bring your son and let him meet his teacher you will fill out papers that are a sinch to answer and they will tell you what days he will be in school and what time he gets out. Its rather simple and fun for him. Once you get to the school the first time ask the office where to go they will direct you trust me. Oh yes and don't forget he will need to be caught up on shots before his first day and you will need proof!Enjoy! If you have any q's email me.

  9. simply take his birth certificate & shot record along with proof of residence to the school office & let them know you need to enroll him:) I just enrolled my daughter! Good luck

  10. I got a letter in the mail for it

  11. Does the school have a website?  Almost all schools do.  Check to see if there is an enrollment date and enrollment information.  If there is  there will be links to email teachers and administrators.  There should also be phone numbers.  Keep the schools address in your favorites because it can be really useful.  Kids always wait until the day before to let you know of important school stuff.  This will keep you informed of what is going on at your sons school, so that you have time to prepare.  It is always good to know about parent teacher days and other special events a while in advance especially if you have a busy schedule.

  12. Send him to boarding school instead.

  13. Call the school district or even the school he will attend and see when registration is. They will tell you all the documentation you need to register your child. Also, ask for the cut-off birthday date. For example, if the cut-off is September 1st and your child's birthday is October 1st, he won't be eligible for kindergarten this year.
