How do I entertain the boys I babysit?????

I babysit 2 10-hour days a week for a 9 year old and an 11 year old, both boys. I am only 16 and dont have my drivers license, so we're pretty much limited to the house. The kids have a nice sized yard and generally get along, but we run out of things to do quickly. They're my cousins, so I obviously know the parents well and have permission to do kitchen things. Does anyone have any ideas besides the basic swimming at the neighbors (they aren't often home) and tag to entertain us on long summer days????

Also: They are supposed to read and do school work for a few minutes a day, and they absolutely detest it. I need a way to convince (...bribe?...) them to sit down for just half an hour. I cant do it with TV, because they aren't allowed to watch besides the occasional movie. I'm also trying to rule out cookie baking, cause they snack a lot as it is. Very complicated!!!

  1. GET NAKED!

  2. have them watch a movie or something

  3. Soccer, tag football, arts & crafts, pretending to be ninja warriors or something like that, any other sport that isn't violent. You can even have them put on plays or talent shows for you (they might be a little old for that though)

  4. let them do what ever they want. You can just sit back and clean up the messes they make when their done! Arent they too old to even have a baby sitter?

  5. i have the excat same problem same age of boys and im also a 16 year old with no license , what we did today though was we built a fort and made it a restraunt, we cook and make alot of cool food, sometimes they swim and they watch movies and have light sabor fights in the front yard i also hide a toy and they race to find it, but i know how you feel!! older boys are hard to watch!!

  6. get a boyscouting book from the library and help them earn badges that you make or certificates of completion.  they can't work on the badges until their homework is done. they will enjoy the stuff in the book and want to do it with you. read a few scout books and make up the name of your own club. My daughter made up the black rainbow club, think of some club name together with your cousins and do boyscout things with them. good luck. you sound like a nice girl. they are lucky you care so much. don't forget to have fun yourself.

  7. Blindfolded taste testing! my nephews love this game! use anything different/normal in the kitchen.

Garden game, mouth full of water and staring contest - funny!!

    Pictionary

Good luck and have fun! They will remember these times forever!!

  8. you tell them if they can sit down for a half an hour a day that on friday you'll give them some money or take them to the store to buy em something?? go for a walk, play some football, i'd say the money thing though...offer em 5 dollars or somethin?
