Question:

How do I escalate a Yahoo home-page problem?

I have used my.yahoo.com for the past four years; suddenly, most of the modules refuse to update. Yahoo's customer service team gets them to update for a few days and then we're right back to square one. The lead photo, anything from Reuters, the comics, even my local movie theaters don't update on the page. Every time I report it, CS tells me to post a string at the bottom of my source code (using "view source), then they write back that they're "working on it".

It's a free service so I don't have a right to telephone support but I really feel I need to bring it to the attention of someone who'll pay attention. Can anyone help supply an address or phone number of anyone at the company who might take an interest and help fix this? I was given an address by someone in support today (experience@yahoo-inc.com) but my mail was returned as undeliverable. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  1. This is a pain-in-the-rear bug that many of us have been experiencing. Yahoo! appears to be either unable, or unwilling, to fix it.  I've been through the same song-and-dance with CS that you have, and each time they annoyingly act as if this is the first they've heard of it.

I don't know how, or to whom, to escalate it.  Yes, it is a "free" service, but Yahoo!'s business depends on your and my and everyone else's "eyeballs" in order to sell advertising to its customers.  If we all get unhappy and move to Google, they' re up a creek.  They should care about this.

The only way I've been able to temporarily address this problem is to periodically switch back and forth between the new beta version of MyYahoo! (http://cm.my.yahoo.com/upgrade)......... and the original version. When one starts to fail to refresh, I switch to the other for a short-term cure.

I do wish they'd fix it for good, however, and not just jerk around with us in customer service email exchanges.
