How do I explain to my mother that I don't like using a cell phone and having one on?

They come in handy. My grandma loathes her cell but sometimes, cells are a good thing to have around.

Plus, my mom wont listen to her. So your mom may not listen and say you may need it sometime.

How are you supposed to contact someone when something happens? Think about it. In Reno, they've been getting rid of pay phones and all that. You would have no way to contact anyone in an emergency or vice versa. If something happens, how are they supposed to reach you?

I think if you really dont like having a cell phone with you then tell her but honestly you should keep it. If your ever out with someone and you get into a bad situation and your alone and dont have a cell phone how are you supposed to contact people? How will your mom ever be able to call you to make sure that you aree safe and ok. You should always keep it with you maybe have it on vibrate in yor pocket so that she knows your safe and she doesnt have anything to worry about. I mean if you really dont want it then tell her and whenever you go out, givve your mom the other persons number so she knows she can always contact you.

You could tell her that cell phone use in young people is dangerous and emits rays into the brain, which was actually just on the news.

I could understand but why dont u want it? Is it an ugly phone? like one of those house phones? Lol. My parents used to be like that, They wanted me to have a cell but gave me a cell that looked like it came from the 80's. It was embarressing to even take out. THe only  solution for that is to ask for a newer version, or save up money for one or w.e.

Now it might be because she calls out literally 24/7. That'd you'd be better off having a talk with her saying what you feel, that you understand her needs but that it's a bit much calling all the time, and sometimes I need some "ME" time. I'll call you and ask if you need anything, but please try to limit the calls.
