I want to be an illustration major but they think I'm going to be a starving artist. I've taken a few business courses like macroeconomics, microeconomics, intro to business, small business, marketing 101 and I hated them all.

  1. Your parents only wants the best for you....(in their mind)... so have a talk with them....  tell them you want to do x*x in your life and ask them for their opinion on why or why not that you do x*x.   Tell them that you know you will not be happy if you do business... at least for now,

Listen to why they want (demand) you to take the classes....  is it for them? or for you?  and for what reason.

Then you need to see if those reasons make sense.

You might want to talk to your school's advisers about this too.

    good luck

  2. It's your life, not theirs. You need to follow your heart and do what makes you happy.

  3. since you want to be an illustration major do that. your heart is in that and that is what you will excel in.  however what might be a great idea for you to do is maybe minor in business so you can have at least a second option.  this way you can have both a business aspect to your career plan. this will also help you if one day you would like to go into business for your self as an illustrator.

  4. You can either please your parents or you can please yourself.
