How do I fake a coffered ceiling?

I don't want to go to the expense and reno of a true coffered ceiling; is there a way to fake it by installing "beams" on the ceiling?

You could put up planks of wood in a grid pattern with molding on the edges.  I would also put a square of 1/2 round trim in a square with about an inch on each side on the inside of your grid.
