How do I figure out the remaining balance I owe to the IRS, bc I think it should be close to being paid off???

I have been paying a set amount a month for almost a year, plus they took my stimulus check and return. I am pretty sure that there should only be a partial payment remaining for September, but how can I find out for sure, and make sure they don't automatically withdrawal more than necessary?

Contact them. Or find out the amount you owed & add up all you paid so far & add in the interest.

Don't worry once the total balance is paid off IRS will not continue to withdraw.  If I am not mistaken lets say you pay $100 a  month and the only amount you owe is 50.00 IRS will only withdraw $50.

If for some reason it is withdrawn IRS will send you a refund.

You can call IRS at 1-800-829-0922 but i doubt you get thru. Hold time is probably 20+ minutes

Ask for a statement of your account, or call and ask for the balance.
