How many square yards of artificial turf are necessary to cover a football field, not including the end zones and the sidelines? (Hint: A football field measures 100 x 53 1/3 yards.)

Does anyone know how to do this? Help much appreciated. Thanks!

  1. No offense, but people are telling you the answer, and that's kind of cheating. (if it's for school, or something like that) You multiply 100x53 1/3, and figure out how long end zones and sidelines are...( 20 yards long by 60 yards wide, while the end zone in American football is 10 yards long by 53⅓ yards wide (Canadian football is played on a longer & wider field). The end zone stretches from pylon to pylon on an American football field.) and subtract the amount of the sidelines and the end zones (can't find area of sidelines) from 100x53 1/3, and wa la! Hope this helps!

  2. google it!!

  3. You're just needing to find the area. That's l X w.

  4. its given to you right in the question!!! :)

    Area of a Rectangle is: L*W or 100*53.3333 = 5,333 1/3 sq yds

  5. 5333.3

  6. well, the football field is 100, multiplied by 53 1/3. Cmon, then just put sq. yd. and you're done. I'm not doing the math for you.

  7. 300x 160 ft. / 9ft = 5333.33 sq. yds.

  8. Not to express any rudeness to you. But the answer is right there. You just multiply it: 100 x 53 1/3 = 5333.3
