Question:

How do I figure out what to pack and what to leave for college?

I'm going to be an incoming freshman and I leave for college in a week. That being said, figuring out what to bring (clothes, shoes, etc) and how much to bring has been pretty challenging. I LOVE clothes, mixing and matching, etc, so I cannot bear to just bring a few things.

Any suggestions?

  1. I'm packing for college now too, and I'm planning on bringing my entire wardrobe. I'm just going to hang up as much of my clothes as I can, try to fit as much as possible in my dresser, and then put the rest of it in a trunk underneath my bed.

  2. When I first went to college, I did not pack my entire wardrobe because I wanted to save myself the trouble of packing lots of stuff. Boy did I regret it! Now I have my entire wardrobe with me at college and wish I had done it the first time. If you are planning to rush sororities, you will definitely need your dressy clothes with you at college. It also depends how far away your college is from home though. My college is 4 hours away and I have no car, so I need to have everything with me, winter stuff included.

  3. I'm in the same situation, I live on an island at the moment, and am staying with family on the 'mainland', while my parents stay here. The system that I've tried to go by is taking reasonably basic clothes (the ones that go with ANYTHING), and taking lots of accessories, to customize my stuff. Shoes are my problem, and Bags - argh!

Hope I've helped, and Good Luck :)
