How do I figure sales Tax?

I am buying something that cost 10.98. Sales tax is 6.3%

  2. Take the 10.98 and multiply times the 6.3% on a standard calculator then hit the add button to determine the amount of tax then  add the 10.98 again to get the total of 11.67.

    If you do not want exact for the next time, but want to figure it out in your head, round off the 10.98 to 11 and the 6.3% to 7 (I find it is always better to go higher, that way you will know if you have enough) multiply both and you will get you tax.

  3. or for the total after tax you can use:

    $10.98 * 1.063 = $11.67

    you round any answer .xx5000 rounds up .xx49999 rounds down

  4. 10.98 x .063 = .69
