  1. Yo . . . I be sleep but when I woke we can think bout it.

  2. You need to measure the width of the angled run hoizontally,  then the height to the apex. Then use logarithims to calculate pitch. Sorry I won,t try to explain how to do it but they are the critical measurements you need.

If you know a sixteen or seventeen year old they will probably have the log tables and work it out for you.

  3. pitch is usually measured as rise over run. go up in th attic and find a rafter. measure out 12 inches then with a level measure straight up at the starting point then straight up at the 12 inch mark. subtract the smaller number from the larger This is your rise and 12 is your run so if you came out with 8 your pitch would be 8 over 12 or 8/12 or...

    pitch is 45 / 12 X rise

  4. I would suggest you make a scaled drawing of the building. Measure how high the walls will be. How wide the building is, and draw and end view. Make your drawing scale at 1/4" = 1 foot.  Now find the center of the end view and make a light pencil line showing the proposed roof slope. Now draw both side of the roof slope from the center of the peak down to the walls on each side. Look at it, if it doesn't look right adjust it so it does. Now Measure from the top of your wall to the peak of the roofline you have drawn. Take half the width of your building in feet and inches, and divide that by the total height of the end wall from top of wall to peak. 1/2 width x  ? = distance from top of wall to peak.

I personally don't like roof pitch to be under 5/12 on residential and under 6/12 on commercial. I also like to put door and window headers at 7' above the finish floor on all commercial jobs.

  5. The pitch or angle of what?  The roof?
