The advantage (one of few) of a sole prop is that you don't need to file papers.

  At least in Cal. all you need is your local Buss. Lic. and you can get started unless you sell,, then you need a resell permit number so you can collect the state tax. I also lets you buy wholesale.  But unless your filing under a false name no other papers are needed. If others are involved then you get into partnership papers but Sole means it's all yours.
