How do I fill in the knicks in my Fender Stratocaster?

I am working on a Fender Stratocaster guitar and I have taken the pick guard off of it, and I found alot of knicks and "holes" on the body that I want to fill in and paint over. I know how to paint over it, but I don't know what to use to fix the knicks.
