My son is being falsely accused of a crime I am certain he did not commit. I am not one of those parents that thinks my kid can do no wrong. I DO NOT trust the public pretender on the case.

  1. I don't think a juvenile can be an attorney in California?

I'm not positive but I think a person must be at least 21 yo to take the California BAR examine.

I might be wrong and it may be as young as 18 yo.

But I'm sure juveniles are not allowed to practice law in California.

Why would you want a juvenile attorney anyway?

Wouldn't an adult attorney probably do a better job?

  2. Start calling attorneys and ask if they'll work for free.  Be be prepared to explain why you need free legal advice.

  3. FIRST OFF CONTACT THE LOCAL BAR ASSOCIATION . IN ALL PROBABILITY THEY CAN GIVE YOU SOME REFERRALS. ALL ATTORNEYS MUST PUT IN A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PRO BONO HOURS EACH YEAR TO MAINTAIN THEIR LICENSE. SECONDLY YOU CAN GO TO THE COURT WHERE YOUR SON IS BEING PROSECUTED AND WATCH ATTORNEYS IN ACTION AND IF YOU SEE A COUPLE WHO IMPRESS YOU AND HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THE JUDGE THEN APPROACH THEM AND DISCUSS THE CASE AND YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION AND PROBABLY CAN GET A POSITIVE RESPONSE IF YOU ARE SINCERE. THIRD, IF YOU BELONG TO A LOCAL CHURCH THE PASTOR MAY BE ABLE TO RECOMMEND AN ATTORNEY FOR ASSISTANCE , EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER MOST CHURCHES ARE WILLING TO HELP WHEN IT COMES TO JUVENILES. FOURTH , CALL LEGAL AID IN YOUR AREA FOR A RECOMMENDATION. LAST RESORT TELL THE JUDGE YOU ARE NOT SAtisfied with the representation of the public pretender assigned to you with good reasons and they must assign you a special public defender who is a pro bono outside attorney.
