We have over 500 bites from a recent motel stay. Is there a way to find someone to represent us without calling each one individually?

  1. There is. I used to live there. In Greenbelt, Damscus, Germantown, blah... You call the bar association and explain your problem and they make a recommendation to you. When I was there it was like, $50. It was worth the money for me. If things don't work out with the initial referral then they try you with someone else. Do not hire or bother with John Bell. He is in Rockville, MD. Under no circumstances should you work with him in any way, shape, or form. You can also look through the Yellow Pages, on the web or in the book. There is one lawyer for every 100 people down there. Another lawyer who I would not recommend, but I don't hate the guy, is Paul Weisenfeld. He is also in Rockville. Good luck.

  2. I doubt it. These are pretty unwinnable cases. Even if you do get to court, the awards won't generally cover the filing fees. The biggest problem is proving that you didn't bring the bedbugs in with your luggage, or clothing. You need to prove that the bites were gotten from the bedbugs in that hotel only and then you need to show a loss to get damages. Hotels understand this and fight every case all the way. There is no such thing as a nuisance settlement anymore.

    Good luck
