My daughter goes to Head Start preschool, which is a federally funded program and they are asking us parents to find local companies to donate goods and or funds towards our kids' educations, where do I begin? Anyone know of any companies that do this?

  1. You can go to different company's and ask just have information written down for them. Its at least a try. good luck.

  2. a lot of phone calls or foot work to get this done, most big companies are more then willing to lend a hand

  3. I know Walmart's and Home Depot , Costco & Sam's do this.  You have to give them some lead time, fill out the paperwork, etc... and get approved.

Most small businesses are very limited but I have found that contacting them at the beginning of the year is the best possible time.  It gives them time to adjust their financials and forecasting, etc.....

Also, consider BIG companies that have everything to gain -- like snack food companies, baby wipes, etc.  Think LARGE!!  Find out through the internet about regional offices in your area.....

    Good luck!!

  4. Letters!!  A well-written letter sent out to many local business owners.  Many companies allocate funds for charity/donations each year.  A letter almost always receives a response, even if it is to let you know they cannot contribute at that time.  It has worked great for me when I was in school to raise money for trips for competitions and also as a parent on the PTO board.

Explain what the donations will be used for, what the school is about, etc.

  5. you have to walk in and ask personel. most companies try their hardest to look good while sucking money out of a community
