How do I find a good car at an auction?

I am going to start buying & selling cars from public auto auctions in California.

I am doing my research now, I'd like to know how to avoid buying lemons (I'm not really a car guy)

And if u have advice, i'd appreciate any/all

I'd also like to know how many cars I can buy & sell legally, with out having a dealers license.

And i'd like to know how to calculate the Tax on cars from the auction.

Thanks!

  1. Check out this website. I think it will help answer all your questions and give you some good advice.

  2. First you should always bring a mechanic with you to check the engine, transmission, electrical system, etc. before you bid on any car. I think you can buy and sell up to six cars in Cali without having to have a license. Good luck!

  3. make sure they are green light when going through the lanes, but also check them thoroughly inside and out, if you want bring your mechanic with you to look at the engine, but if you've been around cars long enough you will no if ones good or not but make sure not to buy a car w/ a salvage title, they will announce these as red light cars also cars that have minimal problems will usually be yellow light,  cars with big problems will be red light.

    good luck
