  1. http://midwestsupplies.com is the site I use... pretty often.

You can also go to http://byo.com/referenceguide/supplydire... and find a homebrew supply shop near you.

  2. Have you looked for a home brew supply in your area? Also go to  a local microbrewery in your area (if you have one) and ask the brewer(s) for some info on such. The sites listed by Mayor A. West are good but I prefer to support local. Also because you are just starting you can get additional info from a local brew supply and support. A entry level kit should should be some where between 100-150 pending how much you want to invest. Buy a basic home brewing book too. Also most importantly once you start, make sure you SANITIZE everything. It really is the most important step in brewing better beer. Where do you live? perhaps we (the brewing community) could direct you to a more local supplier.

  3. I go to a store called Maryland Homebrew, they also have an online shop at www.MDHB.com. The people there are incredibly nice and helpful, you can call them on the phone for advise or email them and they are very prompt about responding. Anytime I have ever needed something they don't carry they will special order it for me.

  4. I got started with a Brewers' Best kit. They and similar kits show up on eBay on a regular basis. Go thru the listings before you bid. The prices vary all over the place.

You can also check the advertisers on the Brew Your Own magazine website. There are links to their catalogs.
