How do I find a local Tennis coach?

I've never picked up a racket in my life but I've been reading about Tennis lately and I have some friends who play.

I started watching videos and doing major research today and I believe Tennis to be something I could have a fervorous passion for. I'm 5'5", 115 lbs., 17 years old, going into college this August, and I'm a pretty strong sprinter; none of my friends can catch me. I've never had any bone fractures/breaks or tendon/ligament breaks or dislocations. I used to have asthma and poor endurance, but that's changed since I was diagnosed in middle school and a season of boxing. I don't have a job yet, but even when I get one, I think most of my money will be soaked up by college tuition/living expenses. I have rock-solid determination and spirit. I'm competitive, but I know how to take a loss in stride. I'm willing to spend every waking moment besides work and school training. I'm willing to alter my diet, exercise habits, sleeping patterns.

So, where to go, and what'll it cost?

  2. You can seek coaches in local parks, or do a search on tennis facilities in your area, and you are bound to find many. Also you might even have a tennis camp/academy nea by you can find some coaches/pros. Cost varies upon the coach, but usually they give you a private lesson for an hour for about $40. Group play usually costs less, at around $10-20, depending.  I started playing late in life, and found a great coach back home, and supported the guy lol. I took a few lessons a week plus group play. Now with my new coach here, I pay him $45 for 90 minutes for basically hitting and drills. Well worht it though for its a great work out and improves your play. Good luck.
