Question:

How do I find a place to buy a "spare" '78 Mercury Zephyr?

I'm constantly hearing and reading about places which want you to donate an old car, and I'd like to find the people who actually take these old cars, so that I can buy a second Mercury Zephyr to mine for spare parts.

Whenever I call a charity to ask "who takes the old cars which are donated to you?" they never seem to know!

I live in the Denver area, but would be willing to drive a few hundred miles if I could find a "donor" twin for my car.

  1. Some cars on e-bay are for charities. While other charities fix up the donated cars for poorer people.

As for  spares, look at Craig's list, e-bay, and any free sale paper or its site (what ever they call the old  thrifty nickle in your area).

Also keep in mind looking for the Ford counter parts, like the Fairmont. Other cars to look at for spares (power train parts) are other fox chassis cars (like the Thunderbird, Cougar, and Mustang).

There should be plenty of them in southern NM and the Black Hills.
