Question:

How do I find a short story in past issue of Playboy?

I used to be a subscriber when I was in college, but due to a fire I lost all my past issues. One of those issues, roughly 1995, had a story in it that I would love to track down. I don't recall the title or who wrote it, but the story was about a guy who roamed the roof of his apartment building. He talked about writing "sticky salutations" and a crazy guy they called hawk man who wore a white sheet as a cape. His landlord wanted rent, and the guy had to hide from him. One act talked about watching a teenager changing clothes across the alley. "I'm on the roof man..." I believe was the opening line.

If anyone knows which issue this is so I can track this story down, I'd appreciate it greatly.

  1. Wow...if you know that it's around 1995, it would probably be quickest to just find an archive of them and check out the indexes.

I am not sure if there is a good online index for Playboy literature in the mags.

If you think that you'd recognize the title or author when you saw it, you could try "The Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature", if they index the Playboy fiction...which they might (as well as the interviews, which are famous).

    Not much help, I guess...sorry.
