Any help is very appreciated.

  1. Normally, for estimated tax payments you send quarterly payments equal to 1/4 of your tax on 2007 tax return.

Read more about self employed tax filing and estimated tax payments: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/04/tax-...

  2. Probably the best way to do it is to download schedules C and SE and form 1040 for this past year (2007) and fill out a mock return estimating what you'll make this year.  Your tax for next year will most likely end up a little less than that, but not much.

Divide the tax on the 1040 by 4, and submit 1/4 of it with a form 1040ES each quarter.  Since at this point the deadline for the first quarter has passed, and the deadline for the second quarter is tomorrow, you might want to set the amount aside, but pay it in two payments, Sept 15 and 1/15/09 unless you can get this all done by tomorrow, in which case split it into thirds and pay the first payment tomorrow.

  3. contact an accountant.  Trust me when I say find out to the dime what you will have to pay out.  the last job that I had that did not take taxes out ended up costing me $3000.

You can make quarterly payments too, not quite so shocking on you.

  4. Go to www.paycheckcity.com for estimated tax withholdings.  There is also an easy to use W-4 calculator on this site.  And there are tax tables at www.irs.gov, did you search "tax tables"?
