How do I find an ancestor that has no last name?

I have two ancestors that I have all information except last names for them, what are some tips for finding them?

  1. Post all information you do have about them, like birthdates, places of birth, death date, name of spouse & children on genealogy message boards. Genforum is one. There are others. Eventually someone who has that information might see it. I find info on those boards all the time and sometimes it might take years before you hear but as long as you put the info out there someone might eventually see it.

    You should post the info in the surname section of that persons child's surname.


  2. By all information, do you mean children? Wife's name?

    Date of birth?  How do you know they are ancestors?

  3. perhaps going back to the region where they were from and going to old town records
