  1. Don't be so cheep and pay to find out. How much can it coast?

  2. If its not online for free, you can try the library.  If the only source is the archives of the paper, you have to pay the fee.

  3. I check obituaries all the time, online, from the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Courier-Post in southern New Jersey, and the Burlington County Times (NJ).  They go back a few years.  Hopefully, there's a newspaper in your area that can give you the same thing.  Good luck.

  4. If you can't get a copy from the paper's archives (through contacting the paper), I'd suggest seeing if a local library has archives or better yet, lithographs. I managed to find the lithograph reel of my grandmother's obit nearly six years after her death. The copy was, like 10 cents, and it printed on normal, white, 8.5x11 copy paper.
