I've been acting for 6-7 years now and I've never done anything but stage plays. I wanted to start trying out commercials and maybe someday movies. I take classes and do plays all the time, so it would be a great help if someone could tell me how to find auditions. And I would really appreciate advice if you have any.

I'm 16

Medium length Black curly hair

Green and Blue eyes. (Green with tiny blue dots all over.)

6'3''ish...

I have been acting since I was about 9 or 10

I have been singing my whole life.

I haven't learned much dance but I'm willing to learn.

I live near Cleveland Ohio.

I don't know if this information helps much, but all answers would be appreciated...kind or unkind. preferably kind though :].

  1. Commericas are difficult to land...

To be in a Commerical someone has to contact the ad agency for that product or company so thats usually an agents work..

    Doesn't hurt to try...

  2. Sorry but there's not a lot going on in OH.  Try doing asearch for Ohio Film or Cleveland Film and see what comes up.  Search the sites that come up in the searches thoroughly including message boards, job listing links, etc. as they may have audition notices or links that will help you find them.

You can also check out backstage.com and actorsaccess.com but I doubt they'll have anything in your area.  Another resource would be your local colleges, anything with a film program.  Film students need actors and you need experience :-)  Get in on that.

I'm sorry, but everyone's quick answer is "get an agent" but without any real experience no one will give you the time of day.  Your question seems to indicate (at least to me) that you get that which is why you're looking for other experience to add to your resume.  Congrats on looking to do things right before heading down that road.  Also, yes SAG has a list of agents http://www.sag.org/node/667 as does RossReports.com (for money but they have good info so you don't waste postage)

    good luck,

    Marianne

  3. Well you cant get into a audition without a agent, and if you have a agent they would get you the auditions, and find them for you, because thats just doing their job.

Im assuming that you dont have a agent, so just get one.

Then you dont have to worry about looking for audition they do it for you.

  4. Go to sag.com/branches - click cleveland or columbus - click local resources - download the pdf.

This is gonna give you a list of reputable agencies in your area [cleveland/columbus].

You can mail your headshot and resume to these addresses, and maybe you'll get called in for an interview and maybe even signed to the agency! Then you can start professional work :]

    Good Luck
