How do I find bank/assets that my mom would have had when she passed away?

I received a call from a company that claims my mom had an account and they will tell me where it is for a fee. Just wanted to know if there was a way I could find it. Thank you

Most states have an "unclaimed property" link on their websites.  It is free and I would check there first.

You can contact your states "unclaimed property" office.  In Louisiana it is in the treasury department. Do a Yahoo search for unclaimed property and your states name.

I would not pay any company to "find" unclaimed property.

ALL states have an unclaimed property office.  There are 2 possibilities in your case.  Either the company found the money using one of these FREE resources, or they are running a SCAM.  In either case, you don't need them to find the money.
