I want to know where RealtyTrac gets that list. It must be public info, but how do I get it? Why does it seem imposable to get, I emailed county clerks and real estate agents.I am looking in New Jersey.

  1. RealtyTrac gets their info daily through electronic transfer from Data Quick.  DataQuick is under a Federal Govt contract to supply recorders office info to many Govt agencies.  Notices of Default, Notices of Trustees sales, and Lis Pendens filings are also on those reels.  Data Quick sells that info to reposting services such as RealtyTrac.  Other agencies also furnish info and many County offices are open for direct online parsing of real estate data.

  2. You can EASILY find foreclosures by simply calling your local friendly REALTOR.  Yes, you guessed it.  Those houses on RealtyTrac are already listed for sale by real estate agencies.  If you want PRE foreclosure information, simply observe your local newspaper, where notices of deficiency and intent to foreclose are listed in the public notices.

  3. I am in Virginia, most foreclosure lawyer have web sites and local newspapers are still be location of sales.
