The sun rises in the East and sets in the west. Depending on the time of day if you look at where the sun is it should be closer to one side. If it is later in the day and the sun is more to, say, your left, then that direction is obviously west. If it is the morning, and the sun is to your left, then the direction to your left is obviously east.

There were questions as how to find north and south, because east is the direction of sunrise, and west is the opposite direction, unless you say that for some reason sunrise is not visible.

West London is expensive. East London is too, but less so and looks more working class.

Or use a compass.

If you are an early riser, you will see the sun rising from the East. It sets in the West in the evening. Or you may use a compass to find out the directions.
