How do I find info on adult illiteracy?

My cousin is 21 & can't read. He was pushed through the system, his mother didn't fight for him in the school ....& I just wanted to compile some info of where he could go in his area to reach out for help. I'm suspicious he's dyslexic but I don't know for sure of course. It's like this family secret no one talks about but he can't keep a job (employers let him go when they find out he can't read) & he's mooching off his poor (literally - no money) mother.

He may ignore my effort but at least SOMEONE tried.

  1. There's lots of help online - have a look at these sites:

    http://www.dfes.gov.uk/curriculum_litera... http://www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise/

resources you could buy on here:

    http://www.literacytrust.org.uk/Database...

Local colleges around where I live have adult literacy classes-but its a matter of trying to get him there.

The first step will always be him accepting his problem and determination to do something about it.

good luck to both of you!
