I was engaged a year ago and well.. long story short things didn't work out with me and my fiance... He told me to keep my ring but I really have no use for it so I was just going to sell it on ebay or something because I really don't want it... the only thing is I don't have any information on the ring to sell it... All I know is that it's a 1.5 karat diamond ring... I don't want to ask my ex because it would be to awkward, so how can i find out information on my ring?

  1. Take it to an appraiser (not at a jewelry store or someone that buys used jewelry because they will give you a low estimate for obvious reasons).

It will probably cost 50 to 100 to appraise, but you might want to consider asking your fiance because he will probably have the official certificate for the ring, and most knowledgeable ring buyers, will want that certificate (that guarantees the diamonds quality) with the ring.

  2. You take it to a jewelry appraiser and get paperwork on it. But if he's letting you keep it, don't be ashamed to ask him for the reciepts!

  3. Take it to a jeweler and get it appraised. They will then give you a certificate which you can use to certify the diamond and sell it on craigslist or ebay.

    Good luck.

  4. ask a jewllers

  5. Get an appraisal from a reputable jeweler.  It should cost around $30.00.

  6. Take it to a jeweler. They'll inspect it's quality and appraise it, and give you paperwork to prove how much it is worth. If you wore it for awhile, you might be better off just selling it to the jeweler, as you might not get as much on ebay out of a used ring as you could from a jeweler, since they'll remove scratches, polish it, etc.
