How do I find information on the following case?

His name was Richard Michael Gary, a 6th grade teacher who kidnapped a student, then raped her, and then took his own life. This happened in NM, he was arraigned in a city called Las Cruces. This happened apr 1995. I still remember him from time to time, and wonder if it's true that he had witchcraft items in his house, but never found out for sure. I guess certain things are hard to forget, and now I'm looking for more info on the case. I mean back when I was 9 or 10 who cared, right?

Looks like you are going to have to contact the Las Cruces Sun-News directly, their web site is not active. It does state the article was printed 05/30/96.

Another suggestion is to try the local library there, they probably have the old newspapers on microfiche.

Google came up with two headlines from the Las Cruces paper, on 5/30/96and 5/31/96.

There should be records in the courthouse, and also of the school authority meeting where it was decided, according to the second headline, to ask him to surrender his teaching license.
