I downloaded a file in .m4b format and it automatically opened in Quicktime, but I can't seem to find the location of the file on my computer. Does anybody know how to find it?

  1. okay, say you had an m4b file called "therose" go to my computer, local disk c or d try both if needed, hit ctrl f, you will have a window on the left side if windows xp, if vista there is a bar at the top right, put the name of the m4b file and it will come up, don't put m4b though, just the name, when you have a list hit the file tab so its organized, now its easy to find have fun

  2. No settings in Windows is going to change where Quicktime saves it's files. If you DLed it (and didn't just stream it) it would most likely be in My Documents under your User Name in C:\Documents and Settings\"YOUR WINDOWS USER NAME"\My Documents\

MOV files are pretty well protected from copying in the sense that once you close the player, the files will be deleted. Sometimes you may have to even copy the file, during the stream, after it has been completely downloaded and before it ends. You might even have to be so quick to say "Paste" just after shutting the file down, so you can beat windows to the draw... and it cannot delete it because it is in use. It will not be stored on your PC if you just clicked on the URL to stream it in Quicktime Player. If you right clicked on the file and said "Save As" and it gave you the option of saving it as a MOV file, then you would be able to view it later. Chances are, it would give you the option of saving the URL it as a web page.
