  1. If you're using a public network, then you don't own the router.  Undoubtedly it's password protected.  You have no business doing anything with or to it.

If you want to physically find it, then you'd have to ask whoever is serving out the network to you.

I suspect that I'm not answering what you really want to know, but this is the best I can do with your question.

  2. If ur accessing a public network...then you should be able to access internet.

Your router would normally have a private ip address 10.x.x.x/172.16.x.x\192.168.x.x. Check the bottom of your router to find the gateway ip address of your router. Put that ip address in the IE and provided that ur within the range and you have the necessary security credentials u should get the login screen.

To access the router...Go to network connections-->right click the wirless network and click on view all wireless networks. This would give you the list of wireless networks in that area. Select the appropriate network (in this case you wireless router) and update the wep key and connect.

    Common gateway ip addresses are:

gateway ip for linksys router; 192.168.1.1

gateway ip for dlink router   : 192.168.0.1

gateway ip for netgear router: 192.168.1.1

gateway ip for belkin router; 192.168.2.1

  3. wen using your router google whats my ip go to the website and it will tell u ur ip address then wen using a public router enter ur ip address in the search bar of ur brouser
