I have a mom, dad, sister

2 grandmas

1 grandpa

2 uncles

1 aunt (mum's adopted sister)

2 cousins

how can I find the rest of my family? i have googled and found only one person with the same surname (russian)

grandparents are from Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Ukraine. I currently know more about the scandinavian portion.

but i do know that my polish grandmother had an uncle who worked with and was murdered by the communists sometime in the 1930s or 1940s. also my dead grandfather fled the Ukraine with his family because the gestapo (I believe) had taken control of their house and were going to kill them.

but now i don't know anything else about my family except I have an aunt Irene who I've never met, but she lives in georgia/florida or on long island, and one of my dad's aunts has two sons (I don't know what they are to me). they live in the states.

  1. I also have been doing some genealogy.  You might try these sites.  cyndislist.com Cyndi's List is a great site and there are links to all over the globe.   familysearch.org  This is a site by the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints.  This site also has links to information from other sites.  Have you tried Ancestry.com or Rootsweb.com?  Good Luck!!

  2. Ancestry is well worth the money, try your local public library.

they probably offer access to it for FREE through their computers.

If you can do the free trial and check it out.

If you cancel before they charge you no charge and they will send you an offer to get it cheaper than the normal $150.00 a year, usually $99 a year or you can pay monthly.
