How do I find my half brother who was adopted out?

I know his first name but not his surname and his birth date but thats all my mother will tell me and I dont want to fork out a huge amount to find him cause I cant afford it but I want to find him. Can anyone help me please?

  2. Ask you Dad for help or your Aunts/Uncles/Grandparents or Cousins

    or

    Talk to your Mom again and tell her how important this is to you
