My grandfather died in 1956 somewhere in Ohio, I think Fremont, he died when my father was 2yrs old. The story I was told was that he was cleaning his shoot gun and he didn't know it was loaded and he shoot himself in the head right next to my grandmother. His name was Frank Corwin. Any help would be greatly appriciated!!!

  1. I would check out any universities or libraries in that area that might have microfilm online so you can search through old newspapers.  You can request vital records through the department of health in Ohio.  Vital records include Birth and death records of anyone living in Ohio. Just click on the link I posted below in the source section.  It tells you how to obtain these records by mail.

  2. You could contact the sheriff's dept or the police and see if you could get a copy of the reports filed, or try archives of the local paper in Ohio.  You could get a copy of the death certificate.  Other than that, details just might not be available any longer.
