How do I find out about a trust fund account established when I was a child?

When I was 4 or 5 years old, my parents divorced, my mother's attorney got my father to pay child support, all correspondence had always mentioned that the attorney collected the garnished wages from my father, then he said he gave us a partial payment and the rest was supposedly put in a trust fund account, in a local bank. What happened to it, am I legally entitled to it, I am now 51 years old, and that was many many years ago.

  1. contact the bank and ask for the trustee.   you could be sitting on a goldmine!   the only thing is that this trust is soooo old, you better hope that it's still accounted for in the bank's computer system.  it should be. but you never know.   the bank could've made 'reasonable efforts' to contact you, and then after some years given up and liquidated the trust or something wacky like that..
