I know for a fact that I'm related to the famous bank robber named Jesse James. I'm not sure exactly how, but I know it was by my great-grandma on my dads side. How can I find out how Jesse James was related to her?

  1. You have to research your ancestry, starting with yourself.  James was a  fairly common name in Kansas at the time.

I have been researching my grandmother's side who had some James relations in Kansas during  the same era.

  2. First you would need to determine exactly how your great grandmother was related to Jesse James.  From there you can determine how you two are supposed to be related.

I'll be honest though, after a certain point trying to figure out what kind of cousin you are to someone is kind of moot.  You'll find many places, particularly in the southern US, that if you are beyond a 2nd cousin and have too many "removes" then you are referred to as "family" or as a "shirt tail cousin."  ;-)

  3. I'm related to him too!!

but on my father's father's side.

past that i'm not sure either. but i would definitely like to find out. so if you ever figure out how please let me know! : )
