  1. There is nothing I could find apart from the fact that with the company in liquidation, Travelscope Holiday’s 93-day world cruise on the MV Van Gogh had been under threat, but travel organisation Abta has arranged for the voyage to continue.

The 460 passengers boarded the vessel on Friday 4th January at Falmouth.

The company was covered by Abta bond and the Civil Aviation Authority’s Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL), meaning those who had travelled abroad with Travelscope were able to continue their holiday.

The passengers on the Dutch-owned Van Gogh, who have paid up to £9000 each, will visit the Caribbean, Ecuador, Tahiti, New Zealand, Sydney, Mauritius, Cape Town and Madeira.

The vessel is due to return to Falmouth on 5 April.

Cruise ship Van Gogh will run its planned itineraries for 2008 and 2009 with little or no changes after Dutch owner Club Cruise announced it had created a new U.K. operator, Van Gogh Cruise Line Limited

  2. Good luck to you.  I tried and tried and could find nothing except reports of people throwing up all over the ship.

  3. i managed to find a couple of sites regarding views from the bridge, but you have to sign in. but while i was messing about it dawned on me,have you got google earth? if you have , the updated version has the maritime version, and ive zoomed in on a few ships with that its brilliant. give that a whirl, and let us know how you get on.

  4. Have been looking for something similar myself but as yet have not found anything - however what I can tell you is that the ship recently left Fiji and was heading towards New Zealand as it's next port of call, after four days at sea. From New Zealand it heads to Australia and then on to Mauritius, South Africa and Madeira before returning to Falmouth on 5th April 2008.

The trip is apparently going according to plan and as advertised, despite all the doubt and worry with the collapse of Travelscope before Xmas, and has already stopped in places as far flung as The Azores, Antigua, Ecuador, Tahiti, Bora Bora.

The passengers are making the most of the various facilities and entertainments on board, many of them are busily rehearsing for the ships pantomime (d**k Whittington).

    Food is excellent apparently.

How do I know all this? My Mum is one of the passengers and e-mails me weekly to let me know all the latest news!! (p.s. She landed the part of King Rat in the Pantomime!! :-))

If you know anyone on board and want to send them an e-mail you can do so by sending a mail to: vangogh@shore2ship.net - you need to put the persons name and cabin number in the subject line - but be warned each mail received will cost the recipient £1.75 for up to 2 sheets of A4.
