  1. If it doesn't show up on the 3 in 1 credit report (that means all 3 credit bureaus are on the report), it will not show.  However, your prospective landlord may be able to call your old tenant if you allow them.  That's usually the only way they will find out.

  2. Got to your bank and ask for a credit report. Most banks offer one free credit report per year. I'm pretty sure the banks credit report will be have more information.

  3. If they went ahead and got a court order anyway, it will show up. If they just blew it off and were hapy enough to be rid of you it won't.

  4. Possession judgments do not show up on credit reports, money judgments do.

Even if an eviction judgment was not ordered against you, the court filing record is public information and can be found through on-line court searches or obtained through background checks.

Many landlords will not accept an applicant that has had a court action filed against them. It doesn't matter if the old landlord actually followed through or not, the fact that they filed is enough to put up a red flag.

Do not think that a potential landlord will not find the info - it is our business to weed out undesirables.

Regardless, any potential landlord is going to want rental references and will, more likely than not, call the old landlord for a reference.

Do not think if you leave the old rental address off an application that the landlord won't find out about it.

Previous addresses can be found quite easily. Credit reports sometimes have previous addresses listed, background checks provide them and free on-line public records searches will have this info as well.

Leave anything out or lie on the application and it is grounds for an automatic denial.

  5. Evictions typically to not appear on the basic Equifax, Experian, Transunion credit reports.

If you were evicted because of past due rent, then:

If you have a legal judgement against you for the amount past due, then that judgement would show on the report under public records.

Or if they sent the past due amt. to a collection agency, that may show on the report.

But overall, the report will show just financial info, not the act of eviction.

You should be good to go... good luck finding a new place!
